cakephp logoHow to install CakePHP

Before we start to install Cake let’s make sure you all have this:
a. A running web browser. Probably, firefox or Internet Explorer (IE).
b. A database server. We will be using mySQL.
c. Basic knowledge in PHP.

Is all of the things above present??? So let’s get started! 🙂

Note: This tutorial assumes that you are using:
1. Firefox as web browser.
2. XAMMP as database server.

1. We must first get a fresh Cake installer. To get a fresh download, visit the CakePHP project at Cakeforge: http://cakeforge.org/projects/cakephp/ and download the stable release.

2. Unzip the Cake folder to your document root (C:\Program Files\xampp\htdocs). Name that folder as “cake”.

It’s as simple as that…. 🙂 You have installed cakePHP in your local browser.

The next thing you do is to configure your cakePHP database…

  1. Hi

Firefox and IE are Web browsers, not Web servers.

Web server is at least HTTP server (Apache, Tomcat…) + eventually PHP + database server (MySQL, ProstgreSQL…).

  2. Dia,

    Thanks for the correction… 🙂
